Caran d’Ache’s latest Japanese gift collection includes a pencil with its sunrise colors. The 849 Horizon pairs a ballpoint with a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil for ¥12,100 including tax. The Japanese release date was September 19.
Both instruments have hexagonal aluminum bodies with a pastel-pink-to-yellow gradient. The official photographs show the colors running in opposite directions across the pair: pink at the pencil’s button end, yellow at the ballpoint’s. That gives the set a coordinated look without making the two tools visually identical.

Caran d’Ache Japan announced the collection on September 14, with sales through its Ginza boutique and official online shop from September 19, followed progressively by other dealers. The notice calls Horizon limited but gives no production quantity.
The same release introduces an Ecridor Honeycomb ballpoint as a separate product. The 0.5 mm pencil belongs to the Horizon set; no Honeycomb pencil is announced.
