Hands Shinjuku is giving pens and mechanical pencils more room. Its fourth-floor writing-instrument department will be 20% larger when the Tokyo store reopens after refurbishment on September 30, 2026.
The September 24 announcement puts the increase at 1.2 times the previous space. It is a department expansion at this store; Hands has not supplied the department’s new floor area or a count of additional pencil models.
New brands and more to try
Hands says the expanded offer will focus on ballpoints and mechanical pencils, adding KAYOU+ and Luddite to the department. It also plans new-product presentations and an area for hands-on pop-ups. The notebook selection is growing too, including Rollbahn and Traveler’s Notebook.
The reopening comes just before the Shinjuku store’s 30th anniversary in October. For shoppers, the useful change is the combination of more writing-instrument space and places to try products: a reason to revisit the fourth floor, even if the store is already on the itinerary.
Visiting and the reopening coupon
Hands will distribute a 5% discount coupon to customers who make a purchase at the Shinjuku store from September 30 through October 12. It is valid October 13–November 15 on a purchase of at least ¥1,000 including tax. Product exclusions apply; it cannot be combined with other discounts or receipts and is valid only at this store.
