Nicholas Hemingway’s tenth-anniversary clutch-pencil campaign has closed after offering three models: a 2 mm brass pencil, a 2 mm copper-and-brass pencil and a 5.6 mm copper-and-brass leadholder. The Kickstarter funding period ran from March 18 to April 17.
The campaign records £15,685 pledged by 136 backers against a £1,000 goal. That is funding for a maker’s production run, rather than retail revenue or evidence that rewards have shipped.
Three models, two lead diameters
The campaign specifies 29 g for the 2 mm brass model, 30 g for the 2 mm copper version and 58 g for the 5.6 mm model. The larger pencil also incorporates a lead sharpener in its button. Those are campaign specifications, not measurements from a Knockology test.

Hemingway describes the range as made and hand-finished in his London studio. The raw copper and brass are intended to develop a patina with use. The 2 mm models address finer drawing and drafting, while the 5.6 mm version provides a broader core for shading.
What the campaign offered
Individual early-bird rewards were £59, with standard individual rewards at £69 and a three-pencil set at £156. These are closed campaign pledge levels, not current retail offers or delivered prices. The reward cards gave July 2026 as estimated delivery.
For a workshop business, the campaign ties a defined set of tools to an identifiable production commitment. The next milestone is fulfillment; the amount pledged does not settle that part of the story.
