# Two Flicta multipens, ¥550 apart

[KAYOU+](https://kayouplus.com/?ref=news.knockology.com) is adding two [Flicta](https://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000000019.000158242.html?ref=news.knockology.com) multipens to its Japanese lineup, with a ¥550 price gap between Standard and Basic. Both combine four 0.5 mm ballpoints with a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil; materials, controls and weight distinguish the versions.

## Put the specifications beside the names

Standard is **¥550 more and 4 g heavier**. Standard uses aluminum in its operating parts, with a faceted selector shape and a coarser grip texture than Basic, according to KAYOU+. The release does not describe an all-metal body.

## Four inks, one pencil

The fourth ink is **blue-black**, alongside black, red and blue. KAYOU+ uses metal D1/4C-format refills and lists its 0.5 mm replacements at **¥220 including tax**. That gives buyers a named replacement standard rather than an unspecified proprietary cartridge.

Basic comes in Night Black, Fog Blue and Natural Ivory; Standard in Night Black, Champagne Beige and Brilliant White. Basic’s colored selector indicators are molded in two colors rather than printed, which the maker says avoids the marking peeling away.

The ¥550 step up buys a change in materials and handling within the same external dimensions. The five writing functions are shared, so buyers do not have to move to Standard to get the full ink-and-pencil combination.
