KAYOU+’s AIMVISION PRO has received a Red Dot Design Award 2026, the company announced April 17. Red Dot’s own product record confirms the mechanical pencil and credits LONT’s Taku Yahara as its designer.
The recognition gives the young brand a design milestone attached to a specific production model. KAYOU says the Red Dot award follows earlier iF recognition.
The construction behind the award
Red Dot describes a one-piece CNC-machined brass barrel, a mechanically locked lead-hardness dial and a grip combining perforated knurling with rubber inserts. Its account emphasizes handling and weight distribution toward the front.
KAYOU lists a roughly 26 g weight and a 24 mm clip, explaining that the shorter clip is intended to avoid contact with the hand during writing. The locked indicator addresses accidental changes to the selected hardness marking; it is separate from the mechanism gripping the lead.
These are the maker’s and award organizer’s descriptions, not independent performance measurements. The award establishes design recognition, while the named construction details explain what was submitted for that recognition.
For KAYOU+, the result puts a named production pencil—and the design firm behind it—on an international award record. It adds recognition to the product’s commercial story without turning the jury’s assessment into a comparative test of every drafting pencil.
