Sailor’s October 1 price revision will double the Japanese list price of two SHIKIORI mechanical-pencil ranges. Hisakata and Tsukuyo no Minamo rise from ¥3,850 to ¥7,700 each, including tax. Time Tide and Profit also move up, and there is a surprisingly large percentage change hiding in the replacement erasers.
The increases were announced on July 31. With the effective date approaching, the pencil rows deserve a closer look: this is a substantial reshuffling of prices within Sailor’s existing lineup.
The seven pencil lines in the table
These are the dedicated mechanical-pencil entries on page 3 of Sailor’s revision list. All amounts include Japanese tax. Percentage changes are our calculations, rounded to one decimal place.

The two SHIKIORI ranges will land at the same ¥7,700 list price as Profit and Pensiero Verita. Time Tide’s new ¥3,850 price, meanwhile, is exactly where those SHIKIORI pencils started. The price gaps between familiar alternatives are changing considerably.
Sailor attributes the revision to rising metal and resin costs, along with logistics, labor and other manufacturing expenses. It says continued cost reductions have been insufficient to maintain stable supply at existing prices.
A tiny part with a 200% increase
The 24-0011-205 replacement eraser pack rises from ¥110 to ¥330. That is a tripling of the price, or a 200% increase, for a pack of five. Sailor specifies this part for Profit, Hisakata and Tsukuyo no Minamo pencils.
Time Tide owners have a different line to check. Its official specifications call for 24-0012-205, whose five-piece pack goes from ¥110 to ¥165, a 50% increase. The similar part numbers conceal different compatible erasers and very different price changes.
The eraser revisions appear on page 4 of the same document. These are Sailor’s Japanese prices; the announcement does not establish new U.S. prices or dictate what any individual retailer will charge.
