STAEDTLER Japan is bringing the grip and nose together in the 92515 Metal, a ¥1,320 tax-inclusive drafting pencil scheduled to begin Japanese shipment in late April 2026.
The April 9 announcement describes the integrated metal grip-and-nose construction as a first for the company. Compared with the existing 92515, STAEDTLER says the change lowers the center of gravity and improves the feel of the pencil’s front end.
Black gets four lead sizes

All versions have a 4 mm guide sleeve. The grip receives what STAEDTLER calls smooth knurling, intended to provide texture while remaining comfortable against the fingers. The integrated front section and grip texture are the main construction details highlighted in this release.
The practical change is in the assembly and weight distribution: a metal front section with the nose incorporated into the grip. The announcement does not describe automatic lead advance or lead rotation.
STAEDTLER also says replacement parts will be available, although this notice does not list individual part prices. Late April is the start of shipment; retailer arrival dates may vary.
