Stilform has opened its AEON Gravity Kickstarter campaign with an unusual way to control a familiar refill: a sliding ring, a magnetic return and standard 2 mm lead. The Hamburg-based maker is offering aluminum and titanium versions, with December 2026 listed as estimated delivery.
The ring is the detail that makes this worth a closer look. Stilform says it lets the user extend and retract the lead, then returns magnetically to its starting position. It turns lead adjustment into a visible part of the pencil’s design.
A ring with a job

The campaign identifies a twist-to-lock mechanism at the nose, flat sides intended to keep the pencil from rolling, and an eraser concealed beneath the rear cap. Those features give the otherwise spare body several practical jobs: control the lead, stay put on a desk and keep an eraser out of sight until needed.

Standard lead, six editions
The refill choice is usefully conventional. Stilform specifies compatibility with standard 2 mm leads, including graphite and colored leads. That leaves room to choose a grade for fine linework or a softer core for shading without committing to a proprietary refill.

The five colored versions use anodized aluminum; the sixth is titanium with a DLC, or diamond-like carbon, finish. The campaign’s reward descriptions say backers choose their color after the campaign closes.

What the pledge buys
| Body | Early bird | Regular pledge |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum | €64 | €69 |
| Titanium DLC | €94 | €99 |
The early-bird allocations were still available when checked. These are campaign pledge levels, not delivered retail prices. Both materials carry a December 2026 delivery estimate, and the campaign is scheduled to close November 12.
Reward cards list worldwide shipping. For US readers, that establishes a route to back the project, but the displayed euro pledges do not establish a final US cost: shipping, taxes and any import charges need to be checked against the destination-specific terms. The campaign FAQ had not yet supplied those details when reviewed.
AEON Gravity’s proposition is clear: spend on the body and its magnetic control, while keeping the consumable ordinary. The next useful test will be whether the finished mechanism makes that daily adjustment as satisfying as the demonstrations suggest.
